Te Tohu — its Story

Kei te pito o tēnei tohu te tohu tawhito nō te Hui Taumata 1984. Ko te putake tēnei. Kei waho rā ngā mātua e tiaki ana i te tupu mō te ao hou. Mā tēnei tupu tonu e tiaki anō te tupu kia whai mai.

Mā te tohu o te ‘Kaperua’, he tirohanga whakamua tēnei ki te ao e heke mai me ngā akoranga o mua.

The tohu of the 1984 hui forms the pito of this design. It is protected by ngā mātua and provides the base from which the future can grow. As the pito grows, it will adapt to the elements and environment, in turn protecting the next pito for the next stage of our journey.

The kape rua pattern in the design represents looking forward to the future and learning from the past.
